Protecting Your Personal ContentsEvery Aon Recreation Insurance RV policy has at least $1,000 of
replacement cost coverage available for personal contents. However, it doesn't
take long to exhaust this limit if you take into consideration the many things
you bring on board your RV. If you're like most RVers, you probably carry along
a vast array of items including clothing, dishes, appliances, electronic
equipment and sporting goods.
A quick review of your belongings will tell you if the protection you have
is adequate or if your personal contents limit needs to be increased. Increasing
your personal contents limit is as simple as making a phone call to Aon Recreation Insurance and
is relatively inexpensive.
Please take a few moments to print and complete a Personal Contents Inventory
worksheet. In addition to making sure you have enough personal contents coverage,
you should also confirm that each item is adequately covered. Some items-such
as computers, jewelry, and unique collections-may have limited coverage. However,
providing a detailed listing of these items so they may be added or "scheduled"
on your policy, guarantees you're fully protected if they're damaged or destroyed.
The Personal Contents Inventory worksheet can be a helpful tool for determining
which of your belongings needs to scheduled, as items that typically have limitations
are denoted with an asterisk (*). Some of the items you carry in your RV are
listed on the worksheet in order to get you started with your inventory. Add
any additional items in the spaces provided. Listing the value of each item
will give you a better idea of the amount of contents coverage you need. Permanently
attached items are covered as part of the RV and are not considered personal
property. This includes satellites, awnings, microwaves and TVs.
After completing your Personal Contents Inventory
worksheet, store it away from your RV in a safe deposit box or with a friend or
relative. Be sure to update the list as you make purchases. Videos taken of the
interior of your RV are also valuable to have when claiming a personal contents loss. Use a video
in addition to your Personal Contents Inventory worksheet to insure you are
fully prepared in case a belonging is ruined.
